Have you ever seen a woman in a micro bikini? The swimsuit has certainly come a long way. Back then women wore pants and long-sleeved shirts to the beach. As the years went on, it evolved to shorts and sleeveless tops, then to one-piece bathing suits. These one-piece suits then became two and it got tinier until women were left with pieces of string to wear, hence the birth of the micro bikini.
Micro Bikini: String of Evolution

Women have been wearing bikinis for a long time. Mosaics and tiles show women wearing bikinis were discovered in archeological digs in Europe. A statue of the goddess Venus in bikini was found in Italy. Fast forward to the early 1900s. Designer Carl Jantzen made a two-piece swimsuit: a close-fitting short sleeved top and shorts in 1913. Two-piece swimwear was a common sight in American beaches by 1940s. Fashion designer Jacques Heim and engineer Louis Reard came out with the modern bikini in 1946. Heim marketed it as the world’s smallest swimsuit while Reard called it the bikini after the Bikini Atoll, a string of islands in the South Pacific. Reard’s design, a g-string bikini (also known now as a micro bikini) made its debut in a Paris public pool in July 5, also of that year. Actress Bridgitte Bardot also made the bikini popular in her films and photo shoots.
The Micro Bikini: Leaving Nothing To The Imagination
Nowadays, the micro bikini is very popular with women, especially in Brazil where it is common to see women in teeny tiny bathing suits. Some of the styles seen are mesh micro bikinis which provides very little coverage, which earn them the “seekini” nickname. These bikinis provide the smallest coverage of private parts possible. Micro bikinis are used by women who want to sunbathe in the nude but can’t because it is illegal in some beaches. Styles vary but some of the most popular have small triangles to cover the breasts. The bottom can either be a thong or a g-string. The difference between the thong and the g-string is with the thong; there is a tiny triangle at located at the top part at the back while a g-string has a string that meets the waist band, forming a letter T (hence, the T-back). These swimsuits are usually fastened to the body with the use of strings so it is easy to adjust.
Micro bikini have been worn and popularized by celebrities and models and it looks like this sexy beachwear is here to stay.
